For some reason, I seem to host Working With Style around festive occasions (my mom always tells me that “holidays” I think are holidays aren’t exactly holidays, so there you go, Mom, I called them something else) and I like it that way! I am admittedly not very stylish, but I love selecting certain outfits or colors based on an event or occasion.
This occasion? Valentine’s Day!
Since I work at a school with great administrators who allow teachers to dress casually pretty often, I had the opportunity to wear jeans and my new red “LOVE” t-shirt I picked up at Target last week as I administered a quiz on To Kill a Mockingbird and stuffed my freshmen full of Hershey’s and sweet tarts.
After work, my husband and I had a dinner date and tickets to see our favorite stand-up comedian at a Tampa theatre while my mom took care of the little dude. Before picking up my son last week, I did a little shopping at Burlington Coat Factory (shopping sans baby for the win!) to find a dress for our Valentine’s Day date. I was hoping for something that could double as a work dress and a date dress, and something pink or red for the occasion, hence the more practical second choice. But I also tried (and fell in love with) a loose fitting navy blue dress with tiny white hearts—quite Valentine-like, don’t you think?
How did you dress up or down for Valentine’s Day? Were you able to get away from work and kids to have a date night like I was? Don’t forget to link up and show us how you’re working with style!
