So here’s a treat for y’all…which has to do with working moms taking breaks. Don’t we all need a little fun? We do. We really really do.
Last week I was missing from Liberating Working Moms, but it served a purpose. A purpose 100% designed for another contributor here, Brandy. You see, I spent Thursday sneaking around to surprise Brandy by flying down to visit her for the weekend. The brain child of Laura (fistbumps to yet another fellow working mama!), it was decided that while Brandy doesn’t need more baby stuff, this new baby deserved a celebration. So instead of many gifts, her friends got her one gift: me. Brandy hit the nail on the head here talking about making mommy friends, and it’s just become one of the most important portions of rounding out the ebb and flow of my daily routines. I bounce a lot of ideas off my online friends and Brandy and I have become what the interwebs kindly dubbed BiFFs (Best Internet Friends Forever.) So what a pay off to be able to actually hug her in real life. And sleep in her bed. That part was a bonus- thanks Kevin!
You know I’m one of two Canadian contributors on here, right? Well imagine my Canadian brain surrounded by southerners…and southern food…and southern drawl..and Target. In an effort to prove that we were both in the same room at the same time (insert massive squeeeee! here) we did a little vlog for y’all (<- hah!) and wanted to share.
Big ups to our co-operative family, some amazing friends and everyone’s tight lips about the surprise. It was one of the highlights of my whole year, certainly the highlight of my internet career so far. I don’t know about you, but my comfort level of confession is different with different people. There is something to be said for internet friendships turning real life. I hope this video proves to you that it’s so worth it. SO WORTH IT.
What about you? How do you make time for friendships? As working parents it’s so important for us to get this balance and me-time!
Want to know more? YEAH YOU DO! Come read Brandy & I argue here, here (the food! oh my heavens, the food!) and here over who’s the luckiest.

Damn. That got cut off….
you did an awesome job of showing off all the best of the South – NC Style. Do you think you can keep the food tour going and talk her into livermush and moon pies next time?

Ha actually she brought me wagon wheels which are WAY BETTER than moon pies. Same concept! I don’t think pork rinds or livermush will be eaten by this lady. She knows too much.
